Premium, brand-agnostic club fitting company finds new space in one of Southern California’s most picturesque golf destinations

PALM SPRINGS, CA — True Spec Golf, the global leader in custom club fitting and club building, is pleased to announce that they have partnered with Indian Wells Golf Resort, a world-class public golf, vacation, culinary and events destination. Located less than 9 miles from True Spec’s original location in Palm Desert, True Spec Palm Springs-Indian Wells is the latest undertaking in a series of partnerships that brings True Spec’s bespoke fittings and best-in-class customer service to prominent venues around the country.

True Spec Palm Springs-Indian Wells is now open for bookings with fittings beginning on the day of the location’s grand opening, December 1st

The premium facility is home to one of True Spec’s signature state-of-the-art outdoor fitting containers and converts to an indoor bay during the winter. It utilizes the industry’s first quadroscopic launch monitor, Foresight GCQuad. True Spec’s brand-agnostic club fitting matrix has more than 70,000 club head and shaft combinations from every major equipment manufacturer, which enables True Spec’s master club fitters to find the best equipment to improve a player’s game. Each club will be custom built at True Spec’s Scottsdale headquarters to the exact specifications derived from the club fitting process.

“Few spots on the map offer as stunning a setting for golf as Indian Wells,” said Scott Anderson, president of True Spec Golf. “Being able to set up shop at a location like Indian Wells Golf Resort gives us the opportunity to provide our tour-level club fittings to a community that truly embraces the game and we couldn’t be happier.”

Indian Wells Golf Resort features two 18-hole golf courses – the Clive Clark-designed Celebrity Course and the John Fought-designed Players Course – located in the Greater Palm Springs area just minutes away from the Palm Springs International Airport. The Players Course will reopen to play in early December following comprehensive renovation led by Fought. It has a magnificent 53,000 square-foot clubhouse and is one of the few properties to have two courses ranked in the Top 25 “Best Municipal Courses in the United States” by Golfweek Magazine.

“There aren’t many golf facilities with a setting like ours that are actually accessible to the public, and we’re very proud of that,” said Joe Williams, Director of Golf at Indian Wells Golf Resort. “The fact that we can now offer the type of high-level golf club fittings that are conducted by True Spec just adds to the value that we’re able to provide to the golfers that play at our courses.”

Consistently ranked by GOLF Magazine and Golf Digest as one of America’s top club fitters, True Spec’s master fitters are the nation’s undisputed leader in luxury club fitting.

A recent college tournament conducted at Cobblestone Golf Course in Acworth, Ga., illustrates what it takes to achieve great success. First, you have to be willing and able. Then you need to come up with a plan. And finally, you have to execute it perfectly. All three came to fruition recently as Cobblestone Golf Course knocked it out of the park when it stepped in to stage The Scrappy, hosted by nearby Kennesaw State University.

The intercollegiate tournament, which was played in mid-October and involved 10 men’s college golf teams from all over the eastern half of the United States, was originally supposed to be played at Kennesaw’s home course, Pinetree Golf Club, which is about 10 minutes away from Cobblestone in Kennesaw, Ga., just outside of Atlanta. (Cobblestone is a public golf course operated by Bobby Jones Golf Links, a premier manager and developer of private, public, and resort clubs in the United States.)

But a scheduling conflict realized just weeks out from the event made the course at Pinetree unavailable, so Kennesaw State head golf coach Bryant Odom approached the management team at Cobblestone, a beautiful public course designed by Ken Dye, with rolling hills and a wide variety of challenging, scenic holes.

Paul Carey, general manager at Cobblestone Golf Club and regional manager of operations for Bobby Jones Links, explained that the dates of the tournament took priority over the venue, because these schools plan their calendars far in advance and had already made travel arrangements and probably couldn’t reschedule.

“The date was more important to them than the facility, because they wanted to host all those schools,” Carey said. “Looking at our calendar, and talking through it, logistically it appeared we could accommodate them.”

So Carey met with his team, which includes Head Professional Bobby O’Brien, Superintendent Ashley Byrd, and Curtis Huber, who heads up Cobblestone’s food and beverage program. When Cobblestone agreed to host the tourney, they had to figure out how to get the facility ready in just six weeks.

“We put together a menu and a plan and presented it to Coach Odom, and he signed off on that. And then, there was getting our turf team to get the golf course in shape to host a Division I golf tournament.

“It’s not that we were in bad shape, but when your superintendent knows he’s got the opportunity to host colleges from all over the country, it kind of gets his juices flowing a little bit to show off his product. The attention to detail really kicked in.”

Byrd had to ramp up the maintenance schedule to get the greens, fairways, bunkers, and tees in top condition.

For example, during regular play, the greens are usually around a 10.5 or so on the Stimpmeter, but for the tournament, they were running between 12-13, which is very fast, like a typical PGA Tour event. Byrd’s team made sure the greens were super healthy, too, along with the rough and fairways. The bunkers were caressed and edged, too. And during the event, the greens were double cut and double rolled. In addition, during the competition, the fairways were mowed each morning, which not only had them in near perfect shape, but it also got the dew off for the early tee times.

The teams participating in the tournament were Kennesaw State, Bellarmine, Bradley, Belmont, Georgia State, IU Indianapolis, Tennessee Tech, UT Martin, Morehead State, West Georgia, and Murray State.

One of the biggest challenges, actually, was feeding the players and coaches. Huber pulled it off flawlessly. The staff arrived prior to 6 am preparing breakfast each day, a variety of breakfast sandwiches, hashbrowns, burritos, and an assortment of fresh fruit and the event ran smoothly.

“Cobblestone is a public golf course with a limited food and beverage area,” Carey said.  “It’s more of a grill than a dining room, where there might be a traditional country club banquet hall. One of the biggest hurdles for us was how we could feed 90 people five times in three days.”

As for the tournament, Kennesaw State won both the team title and the individual title. They had a little bit of an advantage getting to play practice rounds on what turned out to a very difficult course for the competitors.

The host Owls posted a 54-hole total of 11-over 863, finishing 13 strokes ahead of second-place Georgia State. Kennesaw State senior Shaun Cook won his second career individual title with a 2-under 211 total, and he was the only player to finish under par. Two other players were even, with the rest of the field over par.

“These kids will go to tournaments, and their whole team will typically shoot under par,” Carey said. “In today’s day and age, it’s a long-hitter’s game. All of these kids want to hit the driver and bomb it. And our course kind of forces you to think your way around the golf course. I think that proved to be an excellent challenge for them.”

In the end, Cobblestone, which has seven holes along Lake Acworth, was more than up to the challenge. In fact, O’Brien has been in discussions with the women’s head coach at Kennesaw about hosting an event. And Odom, according to Carey, was more than pleased with how the event turned out, both in terms of hosting and winning, of course.

“For all of us, we viewed it as an opportunity to showcase our facility,” Carey said. “And it was a long few days for the staff. But this is why we get into this business. All the stars aligned for us to pull this off – golf course conditions, logistics, feeding them, etc. It really went well. I was proud of our team.”

PORT ST. LUCIE, Florida – History is an important part of golf, always has been. It’s not often a player can make it, but that’s what Sandra Changkija did Sunday, becoming the first woman to win the Assistant PGA Professional Championship in the event’s 49-year history.

Changkija, a former LPGA Tour player who is an Assistant PGA Professional at Lake Nona, shot 72 to win by five shots over three players. She started the day with a one-shot lead, regained it after seven holes and steadily pulled away, finishing at 8-under 280. She was one of two women in the 132-player field.

“It means a lot,” Changkija said. “I’ve worked really hard on my game. And being that I work a full-time job, it’s hard. The field is mostly men, these national events, so it means a lot that a female can win.”

The 36-year-old Changkija took the lead after the second round and held it for most of the weekend. She made only six bogeys in the last two rounds on the daunting Dye Course at PGA Golf Club, and two of them came late in Sunday’s round when the outcome had virtually been decided.

“It’s a final round. It’s meant to be tough,” said Changkija, a member of the North Florida PGA Section. “I felt uncomfortable all day. I was fine being even (par). I didn’t like being one-over. And then the wind swirled on 15 and 16, which made it a little uneasy.”

Per PGA of America guidelines, women play approximately 85 percent of the yardage as the men. Sunday’s yardage was 7,122 yards for the men, 6,035 yards for the women.

Michael Balcar of the Northern Ohio Section, birdied the second hole to tie Changkija and took a one-shot lead when Changkija bogeyed the fourth. But Changkija birdied the seventh hole (while Balcar bogeyed) and she led the rest of the round.

Evan Wartgow (74) of the Utah Section tied for second place with Zach Barbin (70) of the Philadelphia Section and Andre Chi (70) of the Metropolitan Section at 3-under 285. Balcar (77) tied for fifth with Adam Fisher (72) of the Carolinas Section.

“I didn’t have a lot of expectations coming in,” Wartgow said. “I’ve been playing good golf through the fall, but we don’t get to play many rounds in the winter in Utah. I feel really good about it.”

It was obvious the best player won. Wartgow said he was impressed with her consistency.

“She didn’t miss a whole lot of shots,” Wartgow said. “She drove it awesome and long. She’s very, very long off the tee, but she never put herself in trouble. You can tell she’s performed under pressure, and she’s great at it.”

Changkija earned $17,800 and a spot in next year’s PGA Professional Championship. The top four advanced to next year’s Assistant PGA Professional Championship.

Changkija wasn’t the only Assistant PGA Professional to turn in an eye-opening performance Sunday. Scott Cherry of the Southern California Section shot a blistering 7-under 29 on the Dye’s back nine after struggling to a 40 on the front nine, including a triple bogey on No. 9.

“I just said, ‘Stay in it. Keep going,’” Cherry said.

He certainly went low. Cherry chipped in for eagle at the par-5 10th to start the fireworks. He hit a lob wedge to 6 inches on No. 11, then to 5 feet at No. 12. He birdied 13 and 14, then closed with birdies on the last two holes, including a crucial 21-footer at the closing hole.

“I wasn’t sure if the last putt was for 29, then lipped out at 12,” Cherry said. “I knew it was hot, but I lost track of the score after I made a double and a triple on the front nine.

“You never know when you’re going to shoot a 29. Just a little bit bummed that I didn’t stack it on top of like a 35.”

The 69 moved Cherry into a tie for 11th.

Matthew Nuttall of the Tennessee Section made the third hole-in-one of the Championship, using a 5-iron on the 193-yard 13th hole.

The Assistant PGA Professional Championship is Supported by Golf Channel and Srixon/Cleveland Golf.

This prestigious recognition, decided entirely by public vote from international golfers, holidaymakers, and the wider golf industry, powerfully highlights the course’s status as a top-tier European destination and a clear favourite among players.

Bernat Llobera, Director of Golf at Arabella Golf Resort Mallorca, said: “To be chosen as Spain’s best by public vote is a tremendous honour. Under the pioneering ‘Green Evolution’ strategic plan, the course is a leader in environmental stewardship. It uses 100% reclaimed and regenerated water for irrigation and was Europe’s first to adopt Celebration Bermudagrass, a drought-tolerant turf that significantly reduces water use while maintaining premium playability year-round.

Trump International Scotland has cemented its place among the world’s greatest golfing destinations after winning three headline honours at the 12th annual World Golf Awards. The New Course was named ‘World’s Best Golf Course 2025’ and ‘Europe’s Best New Golf Course 2025’, while Trump International Scotland was awarded ‘World’s Best Contribution to Golf Tourism Hospitality 2025’.

Set against the dramatic dunes of Scotland’s rugged northeast coast, the New Course has quickly established itself as one of the most exciting and challenging layouts in modern golf since opening last summer. The 18-hole course was designed to complement the original Championship Course, with the pair creating 36 holes of world-class golf.

The recognition for ‘World’s Best Contribution to Golf Tourism Hospitality’ acknowledges the resort’s exceptional service standards, world-class facilities and commitment to enhancing Scotland’s global reputation as the Home of Golf.

President Donald J. Trump, 45th & 47th President of The United States of America, said: “A great honor to win such a prestigious award from the highly respected World Golf Awards. I am very proud of the job that Eric Trump and my team did on building one of the greatest golf courses anywhere in the world. It will make people happy for a long time to come!”

Chris Frost, Managing Director, World Golf Awards, said: “Congratulations to Trump International Scotland for this remarkable triple win at World Golf Awards 2025. I’ve been fortunate enough to visit the completed project, and it is world-class. The transformation of the region through this beautifully designed and architecturally sympathetic golf resort is remarkable. A true icon of luxury has been created, thanks to the vision and dedication of the Trump brand and its outstanding contribution to global golf tourism. President Donald J. Trump, Eric Trump, Sarah Malone and the entire team deserve great credit for bringing this extraordinary project to life.”

Eric Trump, Executive Vice President, The Trump Organization, said: “We are incredibly proud and truly honored to be awarded three top World Golf Awards and to be named ‘World’s Best Golf Course’ for our magnificent New Course in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. From the outset, this property has been a labour of love. We have built the greatest 36 holes along the spectacular North Sea shoreline and are immensely grateful to World Golf Awards and all those who have supported us.”

Launched in 2014, World Golf Awards serves to celebrate and reward excellence in golf tourism, world-class courses and golf destinations through its annual awards programme.

The results follow a year-long search for the world’s favourite golf tourism and hospitality brands. Votes were cast by golf industry professionals, the media and the public, with the nominee gaining the most votes in a category named as the winner. ANNIKA Women’s All Pro Tour Expands to Wisconsin with Inaugural Women’s Championship

MADISON, WI — The ANNIKA Women’s All Pro Tour (WAPT) is thrilled to announce its debut in Wisconsin with the inaugural Wisconsin Women’s Championship, a professional tournament scheduled for July 29-31 at TPC Wisconsin in Madison. This event will be the first women’s professional golf tournament held in the state since the Thornberry Creek LPGA Classic concluded in 2019.

“It is tremendously exciting for us to bring the ANNIKA WAPT to Wisconsin, hosted by a top-tier facility like TPC Wisconsin,” said Gary DeSerrano, Founder of the ANNIKA WAPT. “The Wisconsin Women’s Championship is expected to provide our athletes with a high-quality competitive experience. We look forward to the local community supporting the event and watching some of the LPGA’s future stars compete.”

The highly anticipated Wisconsin Women’s Championship joins the ANNIKA WAPT schedule as a premier 54-hole stroke-play tournament. It will feature a strong international field, with elite amateur talent competing alongside seasoned professional golfers for a projected $60,000 purse.

The addition of this championship strategically reinforces the ANNIKA WAPT’s dedication to creating more opportunities for skilled women golfers nationwide. The highly-regarded developmental tour is instrumental in preparing players for the elevated competition level of the LPGA Tour and the Epson Tour, functioning as a crucial and demanding proving ground for the next generation of global golf stars.

Tournament Director Dave Olesczuk, a University of Wisconsin alumnus, emphasized the profound impact of the event. “Bringing the ANNIKA WAPT | Wisconsin Women’s Championship to this region is more than just a golf event,” Olesczuk stated. “It’s an opportunity to showcase incredible talent, inspire the next generation of golfers, and generate significant economic activity for local businesses. As an alumnus of the University of Wisconsin, I’m personally invested in the success of this championship and seeing firsthand how it fosters the growth of women’s professional golf right here in our state.”

The Wisconsin Women’s Championship aims to make a tangible impact by supporting golf development. All net proceeds will directly benefit the Golf Foundation of Wisconsin (GFW). This strategic partnership ensures the tournament’s success translates into long-term support for introducing new players, junior development, and creating accessible pathways for women and girls in golf, serving as a powerful engine for growing the sport in the state.

If you have interest in getting involved with this event as a sponsor or volunteer, please contact Dave Olesczuk at dolesczuk@tpcwisconsin.com.

The iconic Florida resort unveils redesigned guest rooms and suites, reimagined culinary destinations, enhanced meeting venues, and a golf experience transformed by Rees Jones, creating a haven where golf, tennis, and leisure converge in harmony

WESLEY CHAPEL, Fla — Saddlebrook Resort, the Florida destination known for its legendary golf and tennis, diverse leisure offerings and unforgettable group experiences, today unveils its highly anticipated $92 million transformation. Spanning 480 acres of cypress-lined fairways, championship courts, and sun-soaked leisure amenities, the revitalized resort near Tampa blends Saddlebrook’s storied legacy in golf and tennis with a fresh vision of modern sophistication.

Guided by the creative vision of acclaimed architecture and design firm EoA Group, the comprehensive renovation touches every corner of the property, including new guest rooms, fresh dining concepts, vibrant meeting spaces, and a brand-new poolside experience. Renowned golf course architect Rees Jones thoughtfully redesigned Saddlebrook’s courses, a cornerstone of the resort’s expansive sports offerings that include 41 tennis with all four Grand Slam surfaces, eight pickleball courts, a state-of-the-art fitness center, and a planned multi-court Padel complex.

Originally opened in 1981, the resort is also home to Saddlebrook Golf AcademyHopman Tennis Program, and Saddlebrook Prep – highly regarded institutions that have shaped generations of international sports icons such as Pete Sampras, Martina Hingis, Alex Zverev, K.J. Choi, Karl Vilips, and Aline Krauter. In 2024, the Professional Tennis Registry and Professional Pickleball Registry established their global headquarters at the resort, further underscoring its reputation as an international hub for sports and performance.

“This remarkable transformation unveils the Saddlebrook of the future, where legendary sport and modern luxury come together seamlessly,” said Camilo Miguel Jr., Founder & CEO of Mast Capital, the real estate and investment firm that owns Saddlebrook Resort in partnership with Amzak Capital. “We’ve reintroduced Saddlebrook not just as a resort, but as a world-class destination that speaks to today’s global traveler and the next generation of athletes.”

An Elevated Welcome

The transformation reveals itself the moment guests turn onto Saddlebrook’s grand, palm-lined drive. A striking new arrival experience with lush landscaping sets the stage for what’s inside: a lobby filled with natural light, contemporary furnishings, and curated artwork.

Enhanced Guest Rooms and Suites with Modern Design

Tucked within clusters across the resort grounds, Saddlebrook’s 451 newly redesigned guest rooms and suites capture the essence of Florida living, ideal for families, groups, business travelers and extended stays. The refreshed accommodations embrace a clean, timeless aesthetic, blending warm wood tones, soft neutrals, and deep navy accents. Natural textures, curated artwork, and refined finishes draw inspiration from the surrounding cypress trees and the relaxed sophistication of the resort lifestyle.

Every accommodation opens to a private patio or balcony with calming views of the golf course, pool, or nature preserve. Deluxe Guest Rooms (400 sq. ft.) invite guests into a serene retreat, with plush king or double beds dressed in Egyptian cotton linens, goose-down duvets, and thoughtful in-room touches such as a Keurig coffee maker, spacious desk, and modern entertainment system. One-Bedroom Suites (800 sq. ft.) elevate the experience with a separate living room and dining area, along with fully equipped kitchens outfitted with sleek appliances, creating a true residential-style setting ideal for longer stays or travelers seeking added comfort. For families, groups, or extended getaways, the Two-Bedroom Suites (950 sq. ft.) provide the ultimate in flexibility, with a selection of bed configurations, ensuite baths and dressing areas for each bedroom, and expansive shared living and dining spaces designed for both relaxation and connection.

Dynamic New Dining Destinations
Saddlebrook’s renewal extends to its culinary scene, with four distinct venues designed to bring people together over food and drink. From refined dining to casual poolside fare, each concept captures a different facet of the resort’s spirit – whether celebrating a milestone, gathering with neighbors, or sharing a quiet morning coffee.

RARE 1981: The heart of Saddlebrook Resort’s vibrant new dining scene, RARE 1981 pays homage to Saddlebrook’s founding year and offers a menu rich in flavors of Florida’s Gulf Coast. Designed with warm lighting and wood-accents, the space sets the stage for thoughtfully crafted dishes like mojo glazed shrimp skewers, dry aged cowboy steak, seared snapper, Moroccan stewed chicken, and family-style sides including buttermilk mashed potatoes, smoked gouda grits and more – all highlighting regionally sourced ingredients. Whether it’s a special celebration, a business dinner, or a laid-back night out, the inviting atmosphere pairs beautifully with a bold cocktail lineup centered on American whiskeys, aged rums, and bright Florida citrus, complemented by a carefully selected wine list.

BREW: BREW is a go-to all-day café and marketplace set in Saddlebrook’s reimagined lobby. From artisanal coffee and fresh pastries to light bites and grab-and-go essentials, BREW fuels guests’ days — whether starting early on the golf course, gearing up for meetings, or taking a break between poolside lounging and evening plans. Its relaxed yet stylish atmosphere makes it both a welcoming homebase to start the day for the entire Saddlebrook community.

Palmhaus: Set against the sparkling backdrop of Saddlebrook’s iconic 500,000-gallon Super Pool, Palmhaus is the resort’s poolside bar and kitchen, embodying its laid-back, sun-soaked atmosphere. Florida-inspired small plates, from citrusy ceviche to handheld favorites and artisanal sandwiches, are paired with frozen cocktails and refreshing tropical crushes that celebrate the endless summer spirit. Perfect for quick breaks between golf rounds, leisurely afternoons, or golden hour gatherings, this open-air haven invites guests to relax, savor the flavors, and soak in the resort’s effortless energy.

The sports tavern: Rooted in Saddlebrook’s celebrated sports tradition, the sports tavern will capture the spirit of game day with a buzzing, high-energy vibe. With its large communal tables, oversized screens, and spirited decor, this space plans to transform the competitive spirit from the courts and fairways into a welcoming spot for connection and celebration. The menu will feature elevated pub classics that pair perfectly with a lineup of creative craft cocktails and local brews. Whether it’s a casual meetup or a victorious toast, this vibrant tavern will act as the resort’s modern clubhouse where locals, athletes, and guests come together to share good times and great food.

Golf Reimagined

Saddlebrook’s sporting legacy enters a new chapter with the redesign of its golf courses. Under the direction of architect Rees Jones, the original Saddlebrook Resort Course designed by Dean Refram in 1976 and the Palmer Course designed by Arnold Palmer in 1982 have been reimagined as three interchangeable nine-hole layouts with a new state of the art practice facility.

The fairways of the Pine, Oak, and Cypress courses now wind gracefully through Florida’s natural landscape, framed by towering cypress, pine, oak, and palm trees. The redesigned Pine and Oak courses feature enhanced USGA-spec greens, rebuilt tees, improved bunkers, and modernized irrigation systems. These improvements meet world-class standards for both championship and everyday play. The first phase of this innovative redesign debuts this month, introducing fresh challenges and new variety with every round.

“We are very pleased to have completed the first and second phases redesigning and reimagining the quality golf facilities at Saddlebrook Resort,” said Rees Jones, celebrated golf course architect. “Saddlebrook now has a world class practice facility and a completely re-envisioned 18 holes. The Pine and Oak nines have been completed and will soon be ready for members and guests to experience. The Cypress nine will be the third phase of the renovation and, when completed, Saddlebrook will have a classic, playable and enjoyable 27-hole complex.”

Rounding out Saddlebrook’s premium golf experience, the new 13-acre driving range, opened in December 2024, features double-sided tees, TifEagle™ putting greens, and advanced short-game practice areas just steps from the resort’s core amenities. Saddlebrook’s state-of-the-art Golf Training Center provides advanced instruction and practice facilities for players of every level to refine their game.

This next chapter in Saddlebrook’s golf legacy is a testament to its future-forward commitment: honoring tradition while evolving to meet the demands of modern players, from beginners to elite-level competitors.

A Reimagined Poolside Escape

Named in honor of the 1984 Super Bowl hosted in Tampa, Saddlebrook’s legendary Super Pool has been reimagined as an elevated hub for relaxation and recreation. Framed with lush new landscaping and private cabanas that offer guests their own private escape, the setting feels both nostalgic and contemporary.

Miami-based illustrator Gabriela Benatar created a custom mural for Palmhaus, inspired by Saddlebrook’s natural surroundings and botanical motifs. Her large-scale ceiling artwork weaves in playful nods to local flora, fauna, and movement, infusing the pool deck with energy and a sense of place.

More Than Meetings: Unforgettable Group Experiences

Earlier this year, Saddlebrook unveiled its fully renovated meeting spaces, now offering over 200,000 square feet of flexible indoor and outdoor event space, thoughtfully designed to accommodate meetings, conferences, retreats, and celebrations of all sizes and styles. Indoors, more than 40,000 square feet of flexible meeting space includes two signature ballrooms – Royal Palm and Pegasus – each divisible for breakout sessions. Updated chandeliers, modern carpeting, and technology upgrades, including high-speed internet and digital signage, blend sophistication with practicality.

Outdoors, 175,000 square feet of venues invite groups to gather in inspiring settings, from the Sports Village and Fountain Courtyard to expansive poolside terraces. Even Saddlebrook’s professional-spec 60-yard sports field doubles as a stage for team-building and unique activations.

Further enhancing its group offerings, Saddlebrook recently introduced a new Play-by-Play Sports Broadcasting Experience, a one-of-a-kind activation where guests can step behind the mic and into the fast-paced world of sports broadcasting – learning the craft from seasoned professionals while engaging with Saddlebrook’s storied athletic legacy in an entirely new way.

Membership as The Gateway to Saddlebrook

Saddlebrook’s renewal also ushers in a new era for its membership program. For the first time, the resort is opening its doors to individuals and families beyond the Saddlebrook community, offering multiple tiers that provide access to championship golf, premier tennis and pickleball facilities, and state-of-the-art fitness amenities. Members also enjoy preferred rates on dining, spa treatments, lessons, and retail, creating a year-round destination where connection, recreation, and resort living come together effortlessly.

“Saddlebrook has always been more than a resort – it’s a community,” said Michael Kazma, President of Amzak Capital Management. “Through this reinvention and expanded membership offerings, we’ve created a place where guests, residents of the communities that surround the resort, and athletes alike can connect, belong, and grow together for generations to come.”

Saddlebrook’s Walkable Village

Spread across 480 acres of natural Florida beauty, Saddlebrook is designed as a walkable village where movement and connection come together seamlessly. Shaded trails wind beneath ancient cypress trees, inviting guests to stroll at leisure, train for a marathon, or cycle through the grounds. Along the way, birdwatchers may spot cranes, hawks, turkeys, and ducks inhabiting the skies, wetlands, and trees.

Continuing along the nature trails guests will find the Sports Village, home to a state-of-the-art fitness center offering group classes, the latest equipment, personal training and more. Serious athletes can partake in the Sports Performance program, where skilled experts work with professional, collegiate and dedicated everyday athletes to assess and provide personalized nutrition and fitness training programs.

Wesley Chapel: The New Pulse of Tampa Bay

Just 30 minutes from Tampa International Airport and the region’s top attractions, Saddlebrook Resort enjoys a prime location in the heart of Wesley Chapel. Set against a backdrop of natural beauty, this rapidly expanding community has become one of Tampa Bay’s most sought-after destinations. Guests can explore premier shopping at The Shops at Wiregrass, enjoy live entertainment at KRATE at The Grove, or venture into nearby nature preserves for hiking and kayaking. Blending access to abundant dining, retail, and recreation with the tranquility of a resort retreat, Saddlebrook connects visitors to the dynamic spirit of Wesley Chapel and the greater Tampa Bay area.

“This expansive renovation reaffirms Saddlebrook’s position at the intersection of elite athletics and sophisticated resort vacations,” said Jeff Mayers, Managing Director of Saddlebrook Resort. “We’ve created a destination where families, friends and loved ones can relax, neighbors can gather, athletes can train, and groups can connect.”

In 2022, Mast Capital and Amzak Capital Management acquired the resort with a long-term commitment to its revitalization. In addition to the $92 million renovation with financing from Beach Point Capital, the property’s evolution includes a forthcoming town center with 465 luxury apartments, 25 townhomes, 75,000 square feet of retail and office space, and a pedestrian-friendly promenade. Adjacent development will also introduce a 120-unit townhome community and 25,000 square feet of commercial offerings—further enhancing Saddlebrook’s role as a dynamic hub of resort living, sport, and lifestyle.

By Craig Dolch, Special to the PGA of America

PORT ST. LUCIE, FL – Preston Cole has positive memories from PGA Golf Club, especially at the Assistant PGA Professional Championship.

Nothing can top the moment two years ago when he eagled the difficult 18th hole on the Wanamaker Course, holing a 124-yard wedge shot for a walk-off victory over Mike Ballo. Cole came close to winning again last year, finishing tied for second place, three shots behind champion Domenico Geminiani.

“Big finishes in a big event help tremendously,” said Cole, a 31-year-old Assistant PGA Professional at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, N.C. “Anytime you can add some confidence is good.”

Cole will be looking to notch his second win when the Assistant PGA Professional Championship starts Thursday at PGA Golf Club. He headlines a 132-player field that will compete in one of the PGA of America’s top member events.

“This is a tournament you’re looking to qualify for every year,” said Cole, whose walk-off win in 2023 kicked off a stretch where he qualified for his lone PGA Championship in 2024.

The field will notice two changes this year: For the first time, the Assistant PGA Professional Championship will be played on the Dye Course instead of the Wanamaker. The Dye, designed by Hall of Fame architect Pete Dye, is the only championship course on the property not designed by another Hall of Famer, Tom Fazio. The par-72 course, filled with Dye’s signature pot bunkers and quirky sightlines, will play 7,193 yards for men, 6,097 for women.

“It’s definitely a change,” Cole said of the Dye. “I have played a few rounds on it, and it’s another great test of golf. It’s very challenging in its own way. It’s still a great place to hold a championship.”

The other difference is the absence of defending champion Geminiani, who also won in 2022. Geminiani had advanced to the second stage of Korn Ferry Tour Q-school – just like he did in 2023, when Cole won – and won’t be at PGA Golf Club this week.

“He’s a great competitor and has had some success,” Cole said of Geminiani. “But there are 130-plus other guys here who, on any given week, can be the best in their Section. One guy doesn’t make a difference.”

Just like any golfer, Cole also has a negative memory of PGA Golf Club. At this spring’s PGA Professional Championship, Cole was inside the top 20 coming down the stretch, on the verge of qualifying for the PGA Championship at his home course, no less. But he made two late bogeys and missed the playoff by a shot.

“Missing by one was hurtful and made for a good motivator for the rest of the year,” Cole said. He won the Assistant PPC in the Carolinas Section and was second in the Section championship.

The 72-hole event runs Thursday through Sunday, Nov. 13-16. The champion earns a spot in next year’s PGA Professional Championship, if eligible, and the top four advance to next year’s Assistant PGA Professional Championship. There is a 36-hole cut to the low 70 scores and ties.

The Assistant PGA Professional Championship is supported by Golf Channel and Srixon/Cleveland Golf.

(LINCOLN, Neb.) – Landscapes Unlimited has completed construction work at the exclusive Marietta Country Club in Kennesaw, Georgia, less than 30 miles northwest of downtown Atlanta.

The golf course project centered on reshaping greens and bunkers, re-grassing fairways and upgrading irrigation system for even better member and guest experiences.  The enhancements also benefit the club’s maintenance team, making it easier on its resources while consistently presenting top-tier golf course conditions.

Architect Bill Bergin masterfully re-imagined several holes.  The Atlanta-based designer is well known for his award-winning layouts at Chattanooga Golf & Country Club (Tenn.), Santa Rosa Golf & Beach Club (Fla.), McLemore Resort (Ga.) and many more private clubs and daily-fee facilities.

“We knew of Landscapes Unlimited’s exceptional work at other clubs in the region, and the company came highly recommended by Bill Bergin,” said Daniel Laterza, General Manager of Marietta Country Club.  “Its dedication and professionalism have been evident at every stage of the project.  Our Members are already thrilled with the transformation, and we look forward to showcasing the completed course when it reopens for play”

“On time and on budget, as usual, without one iota of compromise to quality,” said Brett Lacey, Senior Project Manager of Landscapes Unlimited.  “The collaboration between our field and corporate teams, Bill Bergin, Capillary Flow and others integral to lifting Marietta Country Club to even greater heights was extraordinary from day one.”

Landscapes Unlimited is no stranger to Georgia, finishing summer work at Champions Retreat, Frederica, Jekyll Island and Ocean Forest clubs.
