The innovative broadcast partnership between PLATFORM Golf and Sky Sports Golf has been recognised on one of sport media’s biggest stages, with coverage of The 153rd Open Championship named Best Visual Story Telling using Data & Insight at the 2025 Broadcast Sports Awards.

The winning entry saw Sky Sports Golf integrate a custom version of PLATFORM Golf’s TrueSlope™ technology into the Open Zone, transforming shot analysis of key moments with unprecedented realism. By replicating genuine slopes, lies and putting contours from Royal Portrush and combining them with advanced visualisation tools, the broadcast team delivered a first-of-its-kind immersive viewer experience powered by real performance data and insight.

As shots were struck, viewers at home were able to see a simulated version of the course on their screens, with graphics and ball tracking provided by TruGolf and Science & Motion, to help visualise how a shot might play out in competition.

The Broadcast Sport Awards ceremony was hosted on November 13 at the London Hilton on Park Lane, attended by nearly 700 guests representing the sports broadcasting industry. Judges praised the Open Zone production as: “Very impressive and a good blend of technology and storytelling.”

Thomas Hackett, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer at PLATFORM Golf, said: “We are delighted that Sky’s golf coverage of The 2025 Open has been recognised with this industry award. Thank you to Jason Landau, Jason Wessely and the entire Sky Sports Golf team for their trust in PLATFORM Golf. We could not be prouder of our partnership and shared ambition to push golf technology further.”

“We look forward to building on this success next year at Royal Birkdale.”

Jason Landau, Creative Director of Innovation at Sky, added: “It’s an honour for us to win this award, especially when up against such innovative and insightful entries. Working closely with the Sky Sports Golf team and our partners at PLATFORM Golf, TruGolf, Sportsbox AI, and European Tour Productions we wanted to elevate the Open Zone this year with big ideas, and we are lucky to have such talented teams around us to help us deliver these projects.

“Our thanks to all our partners who shared our vision and went above and beyond as we pushed technology harder, shaping it to offer the insight we wanted to bring to the viewer. Together we delivered what truly was our most innovative championship yet.”

PLATFORM Golf continues to lead in immersive, performance-driven golf training and broadcast technology through its patented TrueSlope™, TruePR™ and TrueBreak™ products, seamlessly integrating with leading simulator technologies and precisely replicating the authentic conditions golfers encounter on course. With recent installations at Precision Golf outside London and the Tommy Fleetwood Academy at Yas Links Abu Dhabi, the company remains focused on elevating player development, coaching and spectator engagement around the world.

So we asked an industry expert the best way to dive in and make the dream a reality.

You see all of the cool, sophisticated golf simulators at bars, country clubs and even hotel lobbies. And you start wondering how great one would be at your home. Your next thought: Just how expensive are they? Truth is, they’re probably more affordable than you think. Of course, that also depends on the features and size you’re looking for. There is unprecedented accessibility at various price points with today’s array of technology at every level. With units costing just a few hundreds to luxury options offering the latest Trackman advancements, there’s an entryway for many consumers.

“There is a wide range of price points from a bare bones minimum of around $1,000 up to $60,000+ for a high-end custom simulator,” says Justin Carlson, Vice President of Sales at The Indoor Golf Shop. “With a bare-bones version, you’ll get a hitting net and a lower price point launch monitor. From there, you can add a hitting mat, impact screen, landing pad, projector and gaming PC.”

The Indoor Golf Shop caters to all different budget levels. The beauty of owning a simulator is that you can upgrade components at any time. Thus, starting out with lower price point components gets you the ability to swing a golf club indoors, in your home. And then as time and budget allows, you can swap out and upgrade components, such as the enclosure, hitting mat, impact screen, launch monitor, gaming PC and projector.

But try not to skimp, even initially, and instead get the best parts you can afford. “A few areas that I wouldn’t go cheap on include the hitting mat and insert, impact screen, gaming PC and projector,” says Carlson. “Our SIGPRO line of hitting mats and inserts are designed for better performance, durability and feel, resulting in the most realistic hitting surface that eliminates all possibilities of pain and soreness in your joints. Our SIGPRO Premium and Premier impact screens provide a quality projected image, longevity, low bounce back and reduced noise. When considering a gaming PC and projector, you want to make sure that you are meeting or even exceeding the minimum requirements of the launch monitor you’re going to use. This will allow for no delay or lag after you take a golf shot, while providing a clean and crisp image.”

Planning ahead of time and ensuring there’s enough space to safely swing a golf club is imperative, when you’re considering installing a simulator in your home. You want to take into account having the impact screen at least a foot off the back wall to allow for the impact screen to flex and give in upon impact. The ideal dimensions of a room are 15’ wide, 10’ high, by 20’+ deep, at the least. “That said, we understand that not everyone has that ideal space so we offer many solutions to accommodate your needs,” adds Carlson.

One huge mistake people often make, when going on a limited budget is opting to use their house laptop to run everything, instead of a gaming PC that allows for multiple inputs for a projector, touchscreen/monitors, and a graphics card that will display the software. It all depends on your budget level, as well as your skill level and comfort in doing it all yourself.  The Indoor Golf Shop offers products for all different comfort levels, from the DIYer all the way up to a turn-key experience.

Another option is enlisting a little help with money. “We offer financing through a third party, which is almost instantaneous to get your financing amount,” says Carlson. “If you don’t want to go the financing route, you can always purchase components you don’t want to sacrifice on and then upgrade or add additional components in the future.” Either way, your golf game will thank you.

Thirty-year GCSAA member is a highly decorated superintendent

Lawrence, Kan. – Jim Pavonetti, CGCS, superintendent at Fairview Country Club in Greenwich, Conn., has been named the recipient of the 2025 President’s Award for Environmental Stewardship from the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA).

He will be recognized Feb. 2 during the Opening Session of the GCSAA Conference and Trade Show in Orlando, Fla.

The President’s Award for Environmental Stewardship was established in 1991 to recognize an exceptional environmental contribution to the game of golf; a contribution that further exemplifies the golf course superintendent’s image as a steward of the land.

Pavonetti is a 30-year GCSAA member and has been one of the profession’s most decorated environmental award recipients. He has earned three GCSAA/Golf Digest Environmental Leaders in Golf Awards (ELGAs), while finishing as a runner-up four times in the last eight years. His ELGAs include the 2025 Healthy Land Stewardship Award, 2024 Natural Resource Conservation Award and 2023 Innovative Conservation Award.

“Receiving the GCSAA President’s Award for Environmental Stewardship is an incredible honor and deeply humbling,” Pavonetti said. “It represents not only recognition of the work we have done as a club on our course, but also affirmation that golf can be a leader in sustainable land management. This award highlights years of collaboration, innovation and commitment from our entire team to care for our environment while providing a top-quality golf experience.”

Pavonetti said Fairview Country Club, where he has been superintendent for the last 18 years, uses an integrated approach to sustainability where every decision considers the impact on the environment. He says these efforts not only protect natural resources but also demonstrate that environmental responsibility and course quality go hand in hand.

  • Water Conservation: Implemented advanced irrigation technology to save water and energy, while also making the golf course play better.
  • Habitat Restoration: Established naturalized areas and pollinator habitats that enhance biodiversity and refuge for wildlife.
  • Nutrient and Chemical Management: Use precision application and organic alternatives to minimize runoff and protect nearby waterways.
  • Energy Efficiency: Transitioning to electric and hybrid equipment, while improving energy performance throughout the entire club’s facilities.

“Jim’s dedication to environmental stewardship while providing enjoyable playing conditions is a tremendous representation of what our members seek to do every day,” said GCSAA President T.A. Barker, CGCS. “He doesn’t just focus on one area, but has an all-encompassing approach that benefits the members, community and industry. I appreciate and applaud his work and congratulate him on this honor.”

Pavonetti earned a winter golf turf management certificate from Rutgers University. He served as the superintendent at two New York golf courses, West Point Golf Course for two years and The Edison Club for five years, before moving to Fairview Country Club in January 2008. He became a Certified Golf Course Superintendent (CGCS) in 2009.

Pavonetti said golf courses are a part of larger ecosystems that can enhance their surrounding communities.

“Through thoughtful management using best management practices, golf facilities can serve as green spaces that support clean water, wildlife, and community well-being,” Pavonetti said. “Stewardship ensures the game remains sustainable for future generations and shows that golf can be a model for responsible land use and environmental care.”

Users Can Pay an Entry Fee and Win Money By Outperforming Their Expected Shotmaking Abilities in Closest-to-the-Pin Gameplay

(CARLSBAD, Calif.)Full Swing, the industry leader in pioneering sports technology, has launched Skill Strike, a first-of-its-kind, skill-based, closest-to-the-pin competition for golf simulator play that allows users to pay an entry fee and win money.

Skill Strike users are not competing against the pros or other amateurs as they would in a typical closest-to-the-pin contest. Rather, they are simply competing against themselves and their algorithm-derived expected shot outcome. This new paradigm is an important distinction from the standard closest-to-the-pin contest that will always favor more consistent players. Skill Strike instantly rewards players’ great shots based on their unique skill level, making every swing an opportunity to win.

Skill Strike is powered by Evenplay’s patented AI technology, developed specifically for Full Swing’s industry-leading simulator platform. The software uses real-time data capture and AI machine learning to tailor Skill Strike’s closest-to-the-pin gameplay to each user’s individual skill level. This learning is then deployed to create skill-based challenges – namely a unique target size and distance for each shot attempt – based on the user’s dynamic, real-time shotmaking abilities. A series of concentric circles surround the hole, with more money awarded for shots that hit the inner rings, less for those that do not, and none for those that miss the target entirely.

“We developed Skill Strike because we’re always looking for innovative ways to engage with the global Full Swing community,” said Jason Fierro, Chief Operating Officer for Full Swing. “Skill Strike is an unprecedented shift in skills-based gaming opportunities as it essentially creates a real-time dynamic handicap for golfers of any skill level, and allows them to win money so long as they perform above their personalized expected outcome. Full Swing simulator users – whether in the comfort of their own homes or at a commercial facility – now have a new way to enjoy the game of golf, with many exciting future integrations to come from our development team.”

New players start with free practice shots that help the AI learn their unique swing profile while earning bonus play money to try the real experience risk-free. Once the system understands a player’s abilities, every challenge is perfectly calibrated to their skill level. This means a beginner hitting their best shot has the same chance to win as a scratch golfer hitting theirs. Challenges begin at just $3 per shot and scale up to $20 as players build confidence. Every swing is an opportunity to outperform your personal baseline and win up to 8x the challenge fee. Players who make a hole-in-one will collect a standalone prize depending on distance. It’s golf the way it should be: every player competes on equal footing, every great swing pays, and winning is about playing your best, not being the best.

“We built our AI specifically to solve a problem that’s plagued golf gaming forever: how do you make it fair and fun for everyone?,” said Bryan O’Reilly, co-founder and CEO of Evenplay. “Full Swing’s precision tracking data gives us the perfect foundation to create truly personalized challenges. When paired with their state-of-the-art simulator experience, every player gets a real shot at winning, regardless of their handicap.”

Added Fierro: “In recent weeks, we’ve given several of Full Swing’s commercial partners a sneak preview of the technology. All have been impressed by Skill Strike’s seamless integration into the simulator gameplay experience and believe it’s going to create a significant new revenue stream for their businesses, as it will increase the frequency of customer visits and also the time they spend onsite.”

The skill-based gaming platform will be available on Full Swing simulators in all U.S. states except Alaska, Hawaii, Maryland, Nevada, New Hampshire and Virginia.

Full Swing’s launch of Skill Strike’s closest-to-the-pin competition is just the beginning, with several enhancements to come. They include the ability to play against friends during a round of simulator golf and overlaying the closest-to-the-pin competition on iconic par-3 holes from around the world.

Washington, D.C.-area native topped the season-long points standings to capture the title Award named for former Farmers Insurance® CEO Jeff Dailey

LOS ANGELES – Marcus Byrd’s remarkable 2025 season on the Advocates Professional Golf Association (APGA) Tour was one for the ages. The 28-year-old Washington, D.C.-area native secured seven top-10 finishes in nine tournaments – including two victories and four runner-up finishes – to earn the APGA’s Jeff Dailey Player of the Year Award.

Byrd won both the APGA at Port St. Lucie in May and the APGA at TPC Deere Run in July, and finished second at the Cisco Black History Month Classic, APGA Juneteenth Classic, Mastercard Tour Championship and the APGA Cisco Invitational. He was sixth at the APGA at TPC Scottsdale.

The Temple Hills, Maryland resident had already been named champion of the APGA’s Cisco Cup Series in August, and closed the year with 3,026 points in the season-long Jeff Dailey points standings.

“It’s just another sign that I am moving in the right direction,” Byrd said. “It’s something that I can be proud of, take it back home to my family and show them that I’m trying my best to make golf a living.

“It’s awesome to go out here and see a lot of people that look like me who are working hard to get to that next level. There’s so much good going on with the APGA Tour, and there are so many opportunities that come from me playing well.”

Named in honor of the former Farmers Insurance CEO, the Jeff Dailey APGA Tour Player of the Year Award goes to the top player in the season-long points standings. The standings measure players’ consistency and overall performance across all APGA Tour competitions, including the Cisco Cup season, the APGA Farmers Insurance Fall Series and two Cisco Invitational events.

Byrd was awarded a $15,000 bonus. Willie Mack III, Chase Johnson and Luis Gagne placed second, third and fourth in the Player of the Year standings and earned bonuses of $5,000, $3,000 and $2,000, respectively.

“Marcus is a truly deserving winner of this award. His season was incredibly consistent, and it seemed like he had a chance to win every time he teed it up,” said Solomon Hughes, Chief Operating Officer of the APGA. “We are thrilled to see the success that he has enjoyed on the APGA Tour this year and are rooting for him as he pursues his dreams of playing on the PGA TOUR.”

Byrd completed his fifth year on the APGA Tour at last week’s Farmers Fall Series Finale in Tustin, California, and missed only one cut in 14 PGA TOUR Americas events. Additionally, Byrd is one of seven APGA players to advance to the second stage of PGA TOUR Q School, to be held at five sites across the country December 2-5.

“I am pleased with how I played this year, but there’s still always room for improvement, especially to get to the PGA TOUR,” said Byrd, who finished second in the APGA Jeff Dailey Player of the Year standings last season while also playing 20 events on the Korn Ferry Tour. “My goal is to get to the PGA TOUR. Even though I’m not quite there yet … I think the APGA is a great place to help me continue to grow my game.”

In the past year, Byrd has had a taste of what it’s like to play on the PGA TOUR. He made the cut in July at the ISCO Championship, his eighth PGA TOUR start, and on Monday he participated in the 18-hole open qualifying event for this week’s RSM Classic in Sea Island, Georgia – a tournament at which Byrd also made the cut in November 2024.

Chase Johnson won the APGA’s Jeff Dailey Award in 2023 and 2024.

Founded in 2010, the APGA is a non-profit organization dedicated to inspiring an inclusive future through the game of golf. For more information on the APGA, visit apgatour.org.

The GCSAA Foundation secures funding and support to strengthen advocacy, education and research that advances the work of golf course management professionals

P2 Golf Products is recognized as a member of the Foundation’s Platinum Tee Club and in the Statesman’s Club through the Cumulative Giving Program, which recognizes donors who have given between $10,000 and $24,999 since 1987.

“Supporting the GCSAA Foundation is our way of investing back into the professionals who make this game what it is. Their work keeps golf facilities running smoothly, sustainably and beautifully, and those are the values that align with everything we believe in at P2 Golf,” said Jessica Esteves, P2 Golf sales and marketing.

Former Ladies European Tour professional and acclaimed global commentator brings nearly two decades of competitive insight, international experience, and award-winning journalism to anchor pre-show coverage and deliver competition analysis across LIV Golf’s expanded global schedule

One of golf’s most influential modern voices joins LIV Golf, strengthening a four-day, 72-hole broadcast reaching 900 million households across over 200 countries and territories

LONDON, NEW YORK – LIV Golf has announced the signing of global golf presenter Henni Zuël as a LIV Golf Broadcaster ahead of its 2026 season, which will feature 14 events across 10 countries, including the League’s first-ever event in South Africa. Zuël, a former professional golfer on the Ladies European Tour (LET) who shattered age records as an amateur, has earned the reputation as one of the sport’s brightest on-air talents through nearly a decade of acclaimed work with Sky Sports and GolfTV. Zuël will bring her signature storytelling style, modern voice, and experience covering the sport across international markets to the LIV Golf Broadcast; anchoring pre-show coverage and delivering on-air analysis throughout all four rounds of 72-hole competition.

“Challenge has always guided my career, and I’m drawn to environments that encourage curiosity, innovation, and a genuine sense of purpose. LIV Golf is at the forefront of redefining how the sport is experienced, powered by elite athletes and leaders who embrace meaningful progress – a vision that strongly resonates with me,” said Henni Zuël, LIV Golf Broadcaster. “My passions – golf, technology, creativity, and forward thinking are all reflected in this role. Joining LIV Golf will enable me to draw on my experience as a commentator and former player, whilst contributing to the wider mission of expanding awareness and driving positive global change within the game.”

“Henni Zuël brings exceptional journalistic experience and the credibility of a former professional player, enhancing the depth and quality of our coverage and strengthening our commitment to delivering a broadcast that is innovative, informed, and globally resonant,” said Chris Heck, LIV Golf President of Business Operations. “LIV Golf’s two-story format – where team identity and individual performance build simultaneously – requires the ability to illuminate both narratives with clarity and sophistication. Henni’s instincts, intuition, and commitment to modern storytelling make her an ideal voice for this new era. She embodies the professionalism, energy, and vision shaping the game, and her passion for integrating technology will help redefine how golf is experienced around the world.”

The LIV Golf broadcast now stands among the most widely distributed sports productions in the world, reaching nearly 900 million households across more than 200 countries and territories through a growing portfolio of elite global partners. Following the league’s expanded 2025 media strategy – which introduced new partnerships with FOX in the United States, DAZN across key European and international markets, and KC Global Media across Asia – LIV Golf is now carried by more than 20 major linear and digital broadcasters, including Movistar (Spain), Seven Network (Australia), Coupang Play (Korea), TV Azteca (Mexico), and additional DAZN territories including Germany, Italy, France, Canada, Japan, Austria, Belgium, Portugal, and Switzerland. Together, these partnerships delivered record-breaking results in 2025, with LIV Golf programming generating more than 66 million viewer hours across live broadcasts, re-airs, and highlights – solidifying the league’s global footprint and establishing its broadcast as one of the most dynamic and far-reaching in professional sport.

Prior to her award-winning work in golf broadcast journalism, Zuël distinguished herself as one of the most advanced young talents in British golf, representing England at every amateur level and making history as the youngest player ever to compete on the LET at 13 years old. Turning professional at 18, she spent seven years competing on the LET, earning two LET Access Series victories and multiple major-championship starts, including a T13 finish at the 2010 Women’s British Open. After a severe back injury ended her competitive career, Zuël transitioned into broadcasting, becoming one of the sport’s most respected and recognisable voices. She spent nearly a decade with Sky Sports covering the game’s biggest stages and was part of the BAFTA-winning broadcast team for The Open Championship in 2016. She later joined GOLFTV and Discovery, presenting and co-producing editorial output including three seasons of the acclaimed My Game instructional series. Her work across major championships and international events earned her the SJA Sports Journalist Award and cemented her reputation as one of golf’s most trusted and influential voices.

Beyond broadcasting, Zuël has emerged as a leading global ambassador for golf’s continued growth and accessibility. She serves as an R&A Global Golf Development Ambassador and as European Ambassador for Steph Curry’s Underrated Golf Tour, helping create pathways for underrepresented young athletes. Zuël also supports and mentors rising golfers and emerging sports commentators around the world, alongside working with charitable organisations, including Children on the Edge – an international nonprofit focused on protecting and educating vulnerable children. She has served as a presenter and analyst for PIF-supported Saudi Ladies and LET events, reflecting her long-standing commitment to elevating women’s golf and expanding the sport’s international footprint. Zuël also extends her influence through high-profile brand partnerships as a global ambassador for adidas, BMW, Rapsodo, Fairmont Windsor, The Buckinghamshire, and Precision Golf. She continues to balance advocacy, philanthropy, and media work with a commitment to shaping the next generation of players and fans.

Zuël will make her global broadcast debut for the League at LIV Golf Riyadh 2026, 4-7 February, under the lights at Riyadh Golf Club. Tickets for LIV Golf’s 2026 Season are available now at LIVGolf.com. For the full 2026 schedule and musical lineup, visit LIVGolf.com/schedule.

LPGA Announces Partnership with FM, Golf Channel, and Trackman to Enhance Production and Broadcast Elements

STAMFORD, Conn. – Golf Channel will televise every LPGA Tour event in 2026, and for the first time in the network’s 30-plus year history, every round of its coverage will be presented live across the country.

The 30-plus event schedule will have live coverage across Golf Channel and select rounds on CNBC to provide live national TV coverage for the LPGA Tour next season.

Earlier today, the LPGA announced a new partnership with FM, Golf Channel and Trackman to enhance production and technology for LPGA Tour coverage in 2026, including slow motion cameras, drone cameras, and additional microphones.

“2026 will be a great year for LPGA Tour viewers as we will televise every single LPGA Tour event and coverage of every round will be live across the country, which is a direct result of Golf Channel and CNBC both being a part of the VERSANT portfolio,” said Tom Knapp, EVP and general manager, Golf Channel. “Additionally, we’ve worked together with the LPGA Tour and our partners at FM and Trackman to enhance our production, adding more technology to our telecasts as we continue to be the proud home of the LPGA Tour and showcase the best women’s golfers on the planet every single week.”

“This commitment from FM, Trackman and Golf Channel is a game-changer for our athletes, our fans, our partners and our Tour,” said LPGA Commissioner Craig Kessler. “It accelerates everything we’ve been working toward — elevating how everyone will experience the LPGA every single week and expanding the ways we showcase the world-class talent inside the ropes. Starting in 2026, fans will immediately see and feel the difference: more cameras, better technology, richer storytelling and more ways to appreciate the unbelievable skill of our players, fully live. We’re grateful for the shared vision and investment from FM, Trackman and Golf Channel. This is a major step forward for the women’s game, and it’s only the beginning. The next chapter for the LPGA is going to be something special.”

Full programming details about Golf Channel’s coverage of the 2026 LPGA Tour schedule will be announced in the coming weeks.

Golf Channel surrounds this week’s LPGA Tour CME Group Tour Championship with comprehensive studio and tournament coverage, beginning Wednesday at 4 p.m. ET with Golf Central live on-site at Tiburon Golf Club in Naples, Fla., hosted by Anna Jackson alongside analysts Brandel Chamblee and Mel Reid and reporter Amy Rogers.
